Things I'm Loving Lately

Drawing
I'm absolutely loving drawing again. I used to do it a lot about 12 years ago when I was teeny and didn't have any responsibilities. Recently I've picked it up again and I have to say, I'm a bit better than I was back then and things are flowing and coming easier to me the more I sketch. I'm loving the practice and perfecting techniques I thought I'd already nailed (sheesh). Seeing a drawing come alive and actually look like the person I'm sketching is so cool, I'm getting a lot of inspiration from Instagram and the artists on there that post like crazy every day about every inch of their works in progress.

Baker's Delight Chocolate Chip Hot Cross Buns
Yup. It's that time of year again people and once again I'm shouting from the roof tops about these yummy treats that fill my belly. I'm loving them fresh, warmed up with heaps of butter. For Bakers Delight, Easter is all about spreading the message of giving back. Every year they donate $1 from each six pack of Hot Cross Buns sold on ‘Bundraiser Day’ (Saturday 16 March) to New Zealand’s Starship Foundation. If you haven't tried them yet I thoroughly recommend you do, their traditional buns are lovely too and although home made or supermarket bought might be nice, you can't beat a nice plump Baker's Delight Bun.

Flavoured Coffee Sachets
Man, I know it's seriously lame but I just love me some Nestlé Hazelnut Latté flavoured coffee. I mean nothing beats espresso and Allpress espresso to be exact but when I'm at home with no flash coffee machine and no desire for stinky instant that tastes like cardboard, I'm just loving these sachets. They warm my tummy and smell divine and I can't get enough of them. Although the Hazelnut Latté is my favourite, I'm also loving Gregg's Mochacinno too. And if you're super keen on them, try mixing them together.... eeep!

New Pencils
This goes hand in hand with my first thing that I love today, but it deserves it's own little paragraph really. I just LOVE new pencils. The smell, the smoothness, the sharpness! I'm wearing them down pretty fast now but I still love them so much. I bought a little pouch of crappy pencils from Typo and replaced them all with Faber-Castell's. Phew that was better and oh so lovely. Gee I need to pull myself together!

Cute Mugs and Saucers
My polkadot mug is a favourite at the moment and my little second hand saucers and tea cups that my mum gave me are also serving me well at the moment. They are 'pinky-up' style crockery and they seem to make all tea taste incredible. Somehow....

Learning the Ukulele
Not in the photo but totally there in spirit is Paddy (aka Patrick Jane, aka Simon Baker... ahem) the Ukulele my parents gave me for my birthday last year. I used to play a bit of guitar and was told by an old friend that I'd pick up the Ukulele quite fast and it would be easy as. I wouldn't say it was incredibly easy but it's getting easier and it's heaps of fun. I'm just learning the new chords, and how to form them, different strumming techniques and nursery rhymes. Yeah, I thought the only way I'll be able to learn is if I incorporate it into my daily life. So kid's songs it is. Old MacDonald Had a Farm is going well and so is Rockabye Baby.... well at least I think so. But having Zoe sing along and strum her bright red toy Ukulele with me is quite delightful.
