Well I've been really enjoying my new found love for sketching. I've just finished a portrait of Quinn and have a million ideas running through my head of what to do next. Went on a small art supplies spree so now I have some decent pencils and paper and am super excited.
It's amazing how my skill has improved over the past few weeks just by doing more of it, more than I have in years. I've found that the drawing of Zoe that I loved and thought was awesome is now second best to the latest of Quinn. I'm faster also and more confident with what I'm doing, line control and shading seems to come easier to me. How is this so invigorating and so much fun? I'm loving it and want to marry it. Totally.
So here they are once more, Zoe's was added to slightly, you'll probably hardly notice. They are hanging on the wall now - even though I'm convinced that Zoe's isn't the best it could be. I'm enjoying looking at them throughout the day and letting them inspire me to do more. Thanks to my ridiculously cute and gorgeous models.

These are amazing! Totally know what you mean about wanting to marry drawing too, though I only feel like that when I am drawing for myself, with no pressure at all... Somehow with all the commissions I have lost a bit of that love :-(
ReplyDeletethe word commission is scary and its already been thrown my way. I have lots of things I want to do for myself so hopefully they will keep me busy. but you are right and i'm sure if suddenly they were paid jobs i wouldn't enjoy them as much! me me me!

ReplyDeleteso beautiful. My mum has a sketch of herself her music teacher did she she was about 12 and it is such a treasured item to us all!!! it's just so beautiful and really captures a moment. How amazing that you are able to do these of your girls and i am sure they will become treasured pieces of totally original art.
