A new colourful crochet project

After reading this post on Li'l Magoolie, and clicking through to the tutorial on Attic 24 and all things wonderful... I've been inspired to make my own version of her blanket. I love the idea of randomly grabbing colours from my baskets and changing colours round by round.... eeep it's so exciting! No really, it IS exciting!

I'm loving my late night crochet at the moment, there's just something therapeutic about the monotony of performing stitch after stitch... and then all of a sudden you look down and you've got half a blanket on your lap. Love!

  3. oh how gorgeous! I've been wanting to ask for your guidance actually. My eye was caught by one of those amigurami kits at spotlight but when I got it home I realised that when the packet said "so easy... instructions included" it didn't actually mean "here's how to crochet". So I'm hoping you could give me some linkys to beginners tuts? Pretty please?

  4. That looks awesome! I am trying a granny square cushion cover before I attempt a blanket... and have been doing some late-nighting too when I should be asleep...

  6. Hi Chrissy - I learnt through tutorials on youtube, but you really need to search for yourself and see what you like on there. And then i ran into us vs uk stitches, NZ goes by UK stitches so all the stuff on Attic 24 is correct to us AND the amigurumi books and patterns I've worked with. Also Pip over on Meet Me at Mikes has some fantastic beginners tutorials. Joel's grandma gave me a good lesson with how to hold the yarn much better than that I'd seen online and then after that is was just practice. I Did a flower tutorial first, then made like 5 then did rows, then granny stitches, made some squares and that big blanket i did and then the amigurumi came easy as its just one or two different stitches. rambling now, good luck - hope this helps!

Sophie - not going to do the flowers, like the idea but not for this. cute though huh?!

Clare - i emailed, but yeah - just cheap and cheerful whatever from spotlight :-) JUST incase I give up and its all a waste...
